My 9 year old's wedding dress

My daughter, Kara, often takes a notebook or sketch pad in the car with us when we are running errands.  A few Saturdays ago, while we were driving about town, she announced that she had just drawn a picture of her future wedding dress.  My heart melted...
Blame it on the marathon episodes of TLC's "Say Yes to the Dress" that the two of us watch while curled up in my bed.  She's taken note and has decided on something simple yet elegant.
Needless to say, this became an instant keepsake. I asked her if I could have it which she quickly agreed to. I'm using a high resolution scan of her picture to create a piece of artwork.  It is still a work in progress but I wanted to share it with you tonight.  Her original sketch will be carefully hidden in a special handmade envelope and placed on the back of this piece.
I'm sure I'll include a little note inside to my special girl about how she made my heart  melt the day she drew me a picture of her wedding dress.  Who knows, maybe we'll cry over it together someday as we plan her real wedding.  Linking this post to:

  13. To answer a few questions...Yes, I've shed a few tears over this little treasure. The piece is on an old black book cover. Double click the photos. It has a gorgeous texture and the small tears give it character. Currently, it is hanging from a rhinestone necklace. Not quite done yet.

  27. Kim,
That is something really special! When she's older, she's going to love that you kept it! When Kate was little she liked to play dress up and we would go to the goodwill and she would pick out dresses, shoes and hats. She also fell in love with a "wedding dress" she had to have, ($8.00), she always wore it on special occasions, birthdays, valentine's day etc.

P.S. I clicked on your e-mail button but it said it wasn't installed right and didn't work. I'm not really sure how to add that to my side bar. (I don't know how to do a lot yet such as add things or link to parties etc.) You can e-mail me at townandcountrygirl50@yahoo.com. I would really like that!

  28. Ok, Vicki, there should be some warning at the top of this to let people know they might just be tearing up as they read it! That is just so sweet and I love how you took the opportunity to turn the moment into a memory that you will both always treasure. Thanks so much for sharing this at Inspiration Friday! :-)

  39. That is SO sweet, Vicki! Your little girl is lucky to have you for a mama. She will cherish that someday! That would melt my heart, too. (I've been hooking on "Say Yes to to the Dress" on Netflix. Watched Seasons 1-5 in two days. Well, it was on in the background while I worked. That counts!)
