What I've been working on...

I certainly did not invent the vintage paper book wreath, but I do have my own twists on this popular project. Here is a rectangular wreath I made to add to our fall decor.  This was my first attempt at this shape. The inspiration was my collection of vintage postcards.
Not only is the shape unique for a book wreath, but when I create these I really like to add more than just a paper medallion to the center, regardless of shape.  Here, I used an old book cover, my vintage postcard a skeleton key and layers of burlap and lace.
Here's a close up of the center piece. I really like the centerpiece of my wreaths to be a little piece of mixed media art. I want it to be something that would be beautiful even if it wasn't surrounded by all this gorgeous vintage paper. I have some other unique wreaths that I have made to sell at an upcoming Holiday Open House. I will share photos of these vintage paper book wreaths throughout this week, so please give a follow and stop back by! Look for wreaths to be listed in my Etsy shop Rusty Rooster Vintage this fall.

  24. Hi Vicki-
Is there a trick to these wreaths??? I tried one once and it just didn't work. I was trying to put it on a foam wreath shape, and it was NOT going to cooperate. I really like the rectangular shape of yours and the vintage card in the center-even better than the original idea!!
